Each year the Detroit Illini Club awards a $1000 scholarship to an incoming University of Illinois freshman who resides in Southeast Michigan.

Donations
The Club's scholarship program is funded by donations from individuals, certain Club events throughout the year. Your donations are greatly appreciated and will help local students enjoy the excellent education at the University of Illinois that we as alumni Club members received ourselves.
Donors will receive an official tax receipt for their gifts to the University of Illinois. Gifts will be credited to the donor's record in the University, Foundation and Alumni Association donor database for recognition and acknowledgment of their total support to the University and its students. Donors can be assured their transactions will be handled securely with the upmost attention to ensuring their gifts will be spent for the scholarships they are supporting.

Past Recipients
Eric Reilly was the club's scholarship recipient in 2006. Congratulations, Eric. Eric is majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He is a graduate of Lahser High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Academic achievements are Phi Beta Kappa, Suma Cum Laude, Principal’s List, and Academic All-State. He was Captain of his track team and a MHSAA Scholar Athlete Semifinalist. Some of his reasons for choosing the University of Illinois are: it’s excellent academic reputation, the friendly atmosphere of the people, the beauty of the campus architecture, and the depth of the intramural programs.
In 2007, Karl Feak received our scholarship. Congratulations, Karl. Karl is majoring in Sports Management. He is a graduate of Huron High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Academic achievements are: Phi Eta Sigma, Two-time Dean's List Recipient, James Scholar. He was Captain of his soccer team and a Scholar Athlete. Some of his reasons for choosing the University of Illinois are its strong academic tradition and quality campus life.
